“Well, because there was a fifty-fifty shot on whether you’d be going left. You see, we’re both going left. You could have just as easily been going left too and if that was the case, it would have been awhile before you started getting scared. But since you’re going the other way, I’m afraid you’re gonna have to start getting scared… immediately.”

“You’re going to have some references [to the original] in there and there’s going to be things the fans will enjoy as far as familiar aspects, but it’s a whole new ball game.” Bruce Campbell, on the Evil Dead remake

“I’ve been a fan of horror and genre cinema in general since I was a child and have become increasingly passionate about the idea of there being a space in which horror films that take their subject matter and characters seriously could be produced,” he said. “What was born out of a conversation of our mutual love for the genre and what we felt was lacking in a broad sense, especially from the U.S. market, became The Woodshed.” ~ Elijah Wood, on the recent announcement of his new horror studio, The Woodshed.

John Landis had the secret of the movie “The Sixth Sense” unintentionally ruined for him 20 minutes in when his wife, Hollywood costume designer Deborah Nadoolman, leaned over to him and asked, “How come Bruce is still wearing the same outfit?”

“I saw Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) in a theater when it first came out, and it was so gritty and dark I felt sick to my stomach for a couple of days afterwards - like the evil of it stuck to my soul. Part of what was so frightening was Rooker, Michael’s incredible performance. We normally distance ourselves from villains, but I almost felt for him as Henry. The last thing you want to do is identify with a serial killer. That’s scarier than anything jumping out of the corner of a film frame.” James Gunn

“It`s very interesting that most of the roles I`ve gotten are grim, when I`m actually a very well-adjusted man and had a happy upbringing. I guess there are some dark shadows somewhere in there, but I`m a big kid.” Tony Todd

So here it is — this is what happens when you give a couple of horror dudes some iPhones and various other video capturing devices, send them on their way for a few hours and have them return to edit their offerings into a full length film. V/H/S, the latest addition to the found footage genre, is a horror anthology with a handful of stories, all by different directors, all shot at different times. That said, I was expecting to watch Jackass, and I did for the first few minutes. But it was worth it because it was just a cushy beginning for a pretty good scary movie, one that I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Read the full review at horrormovies.ca »

Darren Lynn Bousman [Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera] is back and billing his latest film adventure, The Devil’s Carnival, as hell in its purest form. Commit a sin and you’re sent to an alternate afterlife resembling a freakish carnival where demons are the carnies and the show is your punishment. Read the full review at horrormovies.ca »

“In Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, I did experience a lot more nightmares during and after the filming. I was shocked to discover from my husband that I took to sleep-walking during that period and had several vivid dreams where I replayed the final scene with Freddy’s tongue wrapped around my head. I also remember in NOE 3 having several Nightmare’s where I had to save Patricia Arquette from Freddy’s claw.  But in general, I sleep very well, thank you.” Heather Langenkamp

“I love fantasy. I love horror. I love musicals. Whatever doesn’t really happen in life is what I’m interested in. As a way of commenting on everything that does happen in life, because ultimately the only thing I’m really interested in is people.” Joss Whedon

It all happened one night at the age of 6 while sneaking down the stairs for a glass of water. I found my mother watching Creepshow. I paused to let the intrigue take over, grinning the entire time [much like our friend above] - tightly gripping the rail, watching each story unfold, letting the delight take over.

Embracing this passion, I studied special effects makeup and film, and went on to produce digital content about the horror genre for various outlets including PBS and horror-movies.ca. I have turned my love into a full-time passion, part-time hobby, and all the time pleasure.

Turns out I can hold my breath a “looooong  time!” And I hope you enjoy all that glitterandhorror.tumblr.com has to offer.
